Rike Park: The Green Bank Beside the Bridge

Rike Park is the modern green space on the left bank of the Mtkvari river, and the Bridge of Peace lands straight into it. Because the two are joined, most people cross the bridge and end up walking through the park without planning to.

This page explains what the park is, how it is laid out and how to use it as the stepping stone to the aerial cable car and Narikala.

Quick facts

What is actually in the park

Rike Park is a landscaped open space with lawns, paths, water features and modern architecture around the edges. It is not a historic garden, so treat it as an easy, level place to walk rather than a sight to tick off.

  • Level, paved paths along the river
  • Open lawns used for sitting and events
  • The lower station of the aerial cable car
  • Direct access to the Bridge of Peace

How to use it in a route

The strongest reason to be here is the connection it gives you. Cross the bridge from Old Tbilisi, walk the length of the park, then ride the cable car up to Narikala and walk back down through the Old Town.

Daily conditions — events, works or closed sections — change. Check the park on the day rather than relying on a fixed plan.

Practical points

  • It is the natural place to pause after crossing the bridge.
  • Toilets and cafes are nearby rather than guaranteed inside the park.
  • Evening light here is popular, so expect more people after sunset.
  • On foot it connects the Old Town bank with the cable car without a long detour.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for planning.

01Is Rike Park the same as the Bridge of Peace?+

No. They are separate but directly connected: the Bridge of Peace is the glass-and-steel crossing, and Rike Park is the green space at its left-bank end.

02Do I need a ticket for Rike Park?+

The park is an open public space, so there is no admission for walking through. Paid services such as the cable car are separate.

03How long should I spend in Rike Park?+

As long as you like. It is a through-route for most visitors; add time only if you want to sit, or if you are waiting for the cable car.
