Bridge of Peace Visiting Guide

The Bridge of Peace is an open pedestrian bridge over the Mtkvari (Kura) river. It links Erekle II Street on the Old Tbilisi side with Rike Park on the left bank, and most visitors cross it in a few minutes before walking on into the Old Town or towards the cable car.

This page is the starting point of the guide. It answers the questions people ask before they arrive and links to the detailed pages on transport, timing, cost and night viewing.

Quick facts

What you actually see

The structure is a steel skeleton under a wavy glass canopy, built so that daylight passes through and artificial light takes over after dark. The river stays visible on both sides as you walk.

  • Glass-and-steel canopy above the river
  • Old Tbilisi rooftops on one side
  • Rike Park and the aerial tramway on the other
  • Wide river views towards Metekhi and Narikala

How long to allow

There is no fixed visit duration. A simple crossing is short, and most visitors add time for photographs and for the two banks. Decide the length from your wider route rather than from a fixed schedule.

Any duration you read online, including here, is a planning estimate. Crowds, light and weather change the real number.

What to sort out before you go

  • Choose your bank first: Old Town (Erekle II Street) or Rike Park.
  • Check the weather and any event notices on the day.
  • Keep the map pin so you arrive at the bridge itself, not a general Old Town address.
  • Plan the next stop — Rike Park, the cable car or the Old Town — before you cross.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for planning.

01Is the Bridge of Peace free to visit?+

Crossing the bridge is a normal public walkway and the official tourism source publishes no admission tariff. Paid services nearby — the aerial tramway, boat trips and guided tours — are separate.

02Which side should I start from?+

Both work. Start at Rike Park if you plan the cable car or Narikala; start at Erekle II Street if you want the Old Town first. The bridge links the two on foot.

03Do I need a ticket or a booking?+

No booking is required for the bridge itself. Bookings apply only to separate activities such as the aerial tramway, boat tours or a guided walk.
