Metro and Public Transport

The bridge sits between two useful transit anchors: Avlabari and Rike Park on the left bank, and Freedom Square with the Old Town on the other side.

This page helps you choose a station for your route instead of assuming one station is always best.

Quick facts

Choosing a metro station

Avlabari can be considered when your route goes through Rike Park. From the Old Town side, walking down from Freedom Square is the natural approach. Station exits, crossings and one-way streets change, so check the city map for the day.

This guide does not claim a universally closest station. The best station depends on where you are coming from.

Buses and minibuses

Surface transport routes and stop numbers change over time, and many pass through the Old Town on diversions. Use a current Tbilisi transport source rather than an older travel blog when you plan the trip.

Taxis and ride-hailing

Set “Rike Park” or “Europe Square” as the destination and walk the last short stretch to either entrance. Dropping off inside the narrowest Old Town streets is often slower than being dropped at the park.

  • Keep the saved bridge map pin in your notes.
  • Agree the price or use the app meter before you move.
  • Allow buffer time in the evening and during events.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for planning.

01Which metro station is closest to the bridge?+

Avlabari works well for an approach through Rike Park, and the Old Town side is usually reached on foot from Freedom Square. There is no single closest station for every origin, so check the current map.

02Are there direct buses to the bridge?+

Bus and minibus routes change, and some are diverted through the Old Town. Check a current Tbilisi transport source for the day rather than a fixed route list.

03Can I take public transport after dark?+

Services run into the evening but timetables and frequencies vary. Check the current schedule for your date and plan the return leg before you set out.
