How to Get to the Bridge of Peace

The bridge has two pedestrian approaches: Erekle II Street on the Old Tbilisi side and Rike Park on the left bank. Which one you use depends on where you start, so this page is organised by starting point.

Rather than one generic transport paragraph, each route below ends at a specific place you can set as a destination.

Quick facts

From Freedom Square and the Old Town

Walking from Freedom Square puts you on the Old Town side. The national tourism source identifies Erekle II Street as the bridge’s Old Town connection, so aim for that street and follow the pedestrian flow towards the river.

Walking times depend on crowds, crossings and your own pace. Treat any figure as an estimate, not a promise.

From Avlabari and the left bank

Avlabari is a reasonable metro option when your route goes through Rike Park, but it is not automatically the closest or fastest station for every traveller. Check the current transport map and the walking approach from the exit you actually use.

By taxi, bus or on the day

Set the destination to “Rike Park” or “Europe Square” rather than a general Old Town address, then walk the last stretch to the bridge. Route numbers and stops change, so confirm them in a current Tbilisi transport source on the day.

  • Keep both entrance names in your notes: Erekle II Street and Rike Park.
  • Save the bridge map pin so the last stretch is obvious.
  • Allow buffer time around events on Europe Square or in the Old Town.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for planning.

01Which metro station should I use?+

For a route through Rike Park, Avlabari is a workable option. From the Old Town side, walk down from Freedom Square instead. Check the current city transport map before you travel.

02Can I walk to the bridge from the Old Town?+

Yes. Erekle II Street is the Old Town connection named by the national tourism source, so the bridge is reached on foot from that side.

03What should I type into a taxi app?+

Use “Rike Park” or “Europe Square” as the destination, or the saved bridge map pin, then walk the remaining short distance to either entrance.
